COMPANY HISTORY

• Family-run business established in 1961, then primarily involved in the extraction and supply of sedge peat to Landscapers, Local Authorities and Nurserymen for horticultural purposes.

• In conjunction with the Nature Conservancy Council the extraction sites were designed to fill with water to re-create wetland areas in East Anglia (now SSSI).

• In January 1968 Tim Banks (Managing Director) joined the company as a sales representative.

• During the early 70's the company became involved in the supply of sedge peat for the construction of new golf courses and drought-ridden golf fairways, particularly on Links Courses.

• Our involvement with the supply of materials to the golf course industry gained momentum with the inclusion of Norfolk Fensoil for the construction of golf greens.

• Recognising the need for materials to dress fine turf areas (such as golf greens) we developed FENDRESS™ Top Dressing, a blend of Norfolk Fensoil and Leighton Buzzard Sand. FENDRESS™ became a registered Trademark in 1981 and 20 years later is still recognised as one of the leading brands of Top Dressing in the UK.

• During the 1980's and early 1990's there was a thriving golf course construction industry in the United Kingdom. Our Screened Fensoil was supplied to many of these Golf Courses and to date has been used in the construction of over 150 new golf courses nationwide.

• As one of the founder members of the BAGCC (British Association of Golf Course Constructors) and the newly formed BRTMA (British Rootzone & Top Dressing Manufacturers Association) we are proud of our long association with the golf course industry.

• The supply of bulk materials to golf courses has become a principle part of our business offering a diverse range of products from a number of strategically located distribution points throughout the UK.

• To complement our range of products for fine turf we also offer a comprehensive range of materials for landscaping and grounds maintenance.
